At Alma Career, we are developing Cyborg, our internal backend‑for‑frontend framework that will power job portals used by millions across Europe. And now, we’re looking for someone who doesn’t just want to write code, but wants to design how the framework itself should function: shape its architecture, define its future, and make it a reliable foundation for teams across the company.

What will be your job?

our main responsibility will be working on the development and optimization of the Cyborg framework, continuously improving its performance, scalability, and overall architecture to support the evolving needs of the job board platform.

Our “users” are developers from other teams. We rarely work on visual components, or deal with business logic. We are here to provide them functionalities they need and use to build our job boards. Our focus is more on building stuff like router, service container, libraries and tools to make job boards modular. We are also responsible for preparing GitHub workflows and AWS infrastructure.

We work in a Scrum-based environment with two-week sprints, starting with planning and ending with a retrospective. We sync daily in morning stand-ups to share updates and align on next steps. Writing tests is integral part of each task and our code is subject for an inter-team code review.

On a quarterly basis, we define team goals together and distribute ownership across developers. As a developer with goal ownership, your role is not to deliver a goal alone, but to drive a topic forward, coordinate with others, and ensure the goal is successfully achieved.

How do we imagine you?

We’re searching for an engineer with hands‑on experience across multiple frameworks and a strong foundation in modern web development. You should be comfortable thinking in systems, understanding how components fit together, and designing solutions that can scale across many products.

You’ll be a great match if you have:

  • Solid experience with React
  • Strong skills in JavaScript
  • Experience with TypeScript
  • Good working knowledge of Next.js (ideally at a mid‑level or higher)
  • Some experience with other framework than just Next.js. Does not need to be a JavaScript framework, other language frameworks with service container are also fine (eg. Symfony)
  • Previous experience with AWS is a plus

We’re looking for someone who naturally gravitates toward architecture, framework design, and platform thinking.

Because you’ll work closely with teams who rely on Cyborg, we value people who can:

You’ll also need communicative English, as you’ll use it regularly in our international environment.

Getting Started: What Awaits You

During first few weeks with us, you will be introduced to our architecture, processes and culture. We will try to gradually involve you in the development, starting with smaller and easier tasks.

Our plan for next months is to work on a routing system overhaul. Framework plugins can define their routes in configuration files inside their own NPM package, but Next.js has file system based routing. We need to create more flexible layer between those two.

We also want to bring more logging and debugging possibilities. And introduce better options regarding dependency injection of services registered in our service container.

At the same time, we would need to listen to other teams building another job board on our framework, help them with questions and provide occasional code review of their code.

Our team is small, less than 10 people. We are from different countries, so we work mostly remote. Once per three months, we meet in person in Bratislava, Prague, or Zagreb to define team goals for the next quarter. It usually takes two days and two to three nights.
