Senior Engineer - F# powered distributed systems on kubernetes

A small team, big impact — modern stack, ownership of key systems

We’re a small, focused engineering team building foundational backend services used across the entire company. You’ll work closely with a tech lead and a product manager, with real ownership, minimal process overhead, and the opportunity to influence key architectural decisions. We’re looking for a skilled engineer who enjoys working across backend, infrastructure, and occasional frontend — and who wants to play a central role in shaping our internal platforms.

You will participate on technical ownership of our core Taxonomy system — a structured data layer that organizes code books, professions, and related metadata used across multiple products. Your responsibility will be its data model, consistency, integrations, long‑term evolution, and ensuring it remains reliable and easy to extend.

What will be your job?

You will help design and implement the core services that define and govern shared taxonomies across the organization.

Your work will focus on building a unified system for structured classifications and metadata, ensuring consistency, versioning, and reliable data integration across dependent systems.

The team also contribute to our Privacy components and to event-driven backend systems built on event sourcing, Kafka communication, and clear domain boundaries (DDD, Righting Software). Your work will include internal APIs (JSON:API, JSON-RPC, MCP), developer-focused tooling, internal admin and maintenance UIs, and introducing AI-assisted workflows where it makes sense.

Our services run on Kubernetes (AWS EKS) with GitOps delivery via Argo CD.

Tech stack you will use (or develop expertise in)

• Language: F# (idiomatic Result/AsyncResult/Option), or experience with TypeScript or PHP (functional paradigm welcomed)
• Architecture: DDD, event sourcing
• Infrastructure: AWS (CDK), Kubernetes (EKS), Helm
• Delivery: GitOps (Argo CD)
• Messaging: Kafka
• APIs: JSON:API, JSON‑RPC, MCP
• Lightweight frontend: React, TypeScript (composing existing components)

How do we imagine you?

We’re looking for an engineer who can take ownership of key platform components and contribute across backend, infrastructure, and occasional frontend. You should bring your experience in backend system design and development, along with strong analytical skills for working with data models, taxonomies, hierarchical structures, and metadata systems. You’ll be most successful in this role if you're comfortable operating in complex domains, thinking at a systems level, and continuously learning.

You’ll thrive here if you have experience with:

• Kubernetes and AWS in real production environments
• API design & integrations (JSON:API, JSON‑RPC, MCP)
• Frontend basics — especially JS/React for internal tools
• Languages: F#, TypeScript, or PHP (ideally with a functional mindset)
• Architectural concepts: DDD, event sourcing, distributed systems
• Developer experience & internal tooling, with interest in improving workflows
• AI‑assisted development, or curiosity to adopt it
