Join Our Team as a Technical Configurator Engineer – Automation

Are you an experienced engineer who enjoys turning complex technical systems into smart, user-friendly solutions?

At Bühler, our Navigator software is central to creating technical and commercial quotations for plants around the world. The product configurations you develop will enable quotation engineers to efficiently generate thousands of accurate quotations worldwide.

We are looking for a Technical Configurator Specialist who will use their automation or electrical engineering expertise to ensure our configurators remain accurate, efficient, and up to date.

Your responsibilities

• Design and development – Create and maintain product configurators for automation systems and electrical equipment, including plant control systems, digital services, motors, control cabinets, and electrical installations.
• Innovation and continuous improvement – Develop state-of-the-art configurators for new products while continuously improving the quality and efficiency of existing solutions.
• Cross-functional collaboration – Work closely with Product Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Quotation Engineering teams to translate technical requirements into reliable configurations.
• Training and knowledge sharing – Train relevant teams on new and updated configurators and provide data evaluations and technical guidance.
• Expert support – Act as a Super User and support teams in resolving complex configuration-related questions when needed.

What you bring

• A technical education at secondary or university level in industrial automation, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• At least two years of professional experience in industrial automation, electrical design, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• A strong interest in transforming technical knowledge into structured, scalable configuration solutions.
• Fluent English; German is an advantage.
• The ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• A customer-focused mindset and sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of SQL is an advantage.
• Experience building product configurators is a plus.
