Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic Mechanical Engineer to join our Regional Engineering team. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with a passion for problem-solving and technical support to play a key role in shaping innovative solutions for our customers. You will provide day-to-day technical support, including product selection, troubleshooting, and collaboration with Sales and Aftermarket teams. We are looking for someone, with drive, energy, motivation with knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering, Computer Aided Designs including effective communication and customer skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate customer requirements and prepare technical proposals for mechanical seals and couplings to support sales representatives.
  • They take responsibility for day-to-day technical support to the country or region, escalating where support is needed.
  • Appropriate selection of products (types/materials) within the John Crane portfolio.
  • Understand price impacts of technical proposals.
  • Provide input for drawing documentation to design department.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Aftermarket, Customer Operations, and Engineering teams.
  • Complete project engineering requests on time and within business expectations.
  • Lead successful completion of major programs.
  • Interact with senior customer personnel on technical matters.
  • Consult complex orders with technicians across John Crane.
  • Develop solutions for complex engineering challenges.
  • Inspection of returned products and creation of reports with a recommendation for an improvement. If needed meet with customers (together with Sales and Aftermarket) in plant or at customer’s site to resolve satisfactorily.
  • Mentor engineers and foster growth.
  • Train new employees in technical areas (John Crane products).
  • Lead technical briefings for internal/external customers.
  • Communicate in English with internal/external customers.
  • Meet supervisor’s requests.

Skills and Experiences

  • Degree qualified Engineer, BEng, MEng or equivalent
  • Driving license (Group B).
  • Computer literate in MS Office; MS Outlook
  • Strong technical, analytical, and logical thinking.
  • Strong understanding of design impact on profitability.
  • Ability to analyse data and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Advantageous if you have experience with simulation tools (FEA, CFD), knowledge of chemistry (material compatibility, chemical resistance).
