Chief Accountant

About the role:
We are looking for a Chief Accountant to join our client - a privately held multi-entity structure in the Czech Republic. The role sits within a central finance function supporting several local legal entities.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for full accounting ownership, reporting, and financial processes across the structure of two Czech legal entities.

Responsibilities:

● Full-cycle accounting management in accordance with Czech accounting standards

● Responsibility for the complete accounting and financial support of the company

● Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and statutory reports

● Preparation and submission of tax returns, including VAT reporting

● Preparation of audit documentation and cooperation with external auditors

● Preparation of consolidated financial statements for a group of companies and participation in consolidation processes

● Analysis and interpretation of planned versus actual financial results

● Optimization and improvement of accounting and financial processes

● Close cooperation with internal departments and company leadership

● Leading, mentoring, and coordinating a team of accountants (3–5 team members)

Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field

● Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting and tax reporting; 2–3 years of experience as a Chief Accountant in the Czech Republic

● Experience participating in at least one external/statutory audit in the role of Chief Accountant

● Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, and taxation principles

● Solid understanding of Czech accounting standards

● Previous team management experience

● Strong analytical and organizational skills

● Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel

● Experience with HELIOS accounting system is an advantage

● Proactive approach to work, high level of responsibility, attention to detail, and reliability

● Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities

● Czech language skills at an advanced level; English at Intermediate level or higher
