Team Lead Algorithmic Trading

Algo Trading is a running project of CEZ Trading. It aims at creating an innovative hub inside our current structure of Commodity Trading. We believe there is a massive potential in combining deep fundamental knowledge of the current trading floor with systematic approach and quantitative technology. The team should integrate expertise across data science, machine learning and trading and this role is a unique opportunity to play leading role in this dynamic project.

Job description:

• Define the long-term project vision, strategy, and roadmap, establishing clear tactical goals for the team’s success.
• Generate market opportunities by acting as the primary liaison between traders, market analysts, and the development team.
• Own the quantitative risk framework, managing the portfolio, allocating risk capital, and defining VaR limits across various strategies.
• Establish and optimize team processes, and lead the full organizational build-out, including personnel sourcing and development.
• Direct the architecture of robust, well-designed algorithmic components and data infrastructure to facilitate rapid prototyping, precise back-testing of trading strategies and reliable execution

Requirements:

• Proven leadership experience (minimum 3 years) managing cross-functional teams of developers and quantitative analysts in a similar setting.
• A Strategic and Novelty-Seeking mindset with the ability to define and drive continuous innovation within the project scope.
• Strong foundation in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (University education required).
• Fluency in the principles of procedural programming (e.g., Python, C, Java) sufficient to guide high-level architectural decisions.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with trading desks and risk management teams.
• Strong Advantage: Direct professional experience as a commodity trader or market analyst, providing essential domain knowledge.
