The ETL Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust ETL processes to support data analytics and business intelligence initiatives. This position involves managing Synapse pipelines to ensure data is efficiently extracted, transformed, and loaded to meet business requirements. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of SQL, experience with SQL server, proficiency in managing Azure Synapse pipelines, and strong English language skills. German language skills are a nice-to-have addition that can enhance communication within international teams.

What are the main tasks of this role?

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using Azure Synapse and related Azure services
• Manage and optimize Azure Synapse pipelines for efficient data processing and integration
• Utilize advanced SQL and DSQL skills to optimize data queries and transformations
• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Implement and monitor data quality checks and validation processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines and ETL processes
• Document ETL processes, data workflows, and pipeline configurations
• Stay updated with the latest Azure Synapse features and best practices

What should the ideal candidate have?

• Ideally, 5 years of experience in ETL development
• Deep knowledge of SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric and Azure SQL Database, DSQL for distributed data management and querying
• Strong Azure and data warehousing concepts understanding
• Programming skills (such as Python or other scripting languages) are a nice to have
• Fluent in English (required) & German (nice to have)
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
